June 2019 Inspirations

Not sure if I’ll keep updating this post or post weekly throughout June, but these are things that inspired me to stay positive and motivated with art throughout the week. Enjoy!

LOISH

I wanted to explore a process for coloring, so I looked up an old Loish tutorial I bought. She has it on CubeBrush right now.

With her tips, I was able to finish an experimental pet portrait for a good friend, Daxter:

Looking up Glen Keane art

Found this blog by Mark Kennedy (storyboard artist with Disney - Head of story on Tangled) with some of Keane’s Animation & Story Boarding notes! This blog has MANY more resources on storyboarding if you play in the menu :)

Trending Hashtag Challenge: #rymesona

This hashtag is based off the Detective Pikachu movie. Ryme City is the location and everyone had at least one Pokémon with them, so draw you and your Pokémon partner of choice!

TIP: When tagging this on instagram, I made use of the misspelling #rhymesona with an “h” and I got some extra views from there. It’s an actively searched hashtag right now, so take advantage of that if you’re a Pokémon fan!

Character Design Challenge (<- Link)

Community that hosts monthly challenges! June’s challenge is Ninja Cats! Such a great subject. I always find new inspiring artists from this page. They have an Instagram and Facebook. Great networking and opportunity here!

Tangled Movie & Art Book

Watched the movie Tangled for the millionth time! I have the Art of Tangled book and it’s worth EVERY penny. One of the best art books out there for concepts: character designs and turnarounds, backgrounds, objects, great examples of things all artists should have in their portfolio.

Link to the book is its cover photo below:

Stay inspired - there’s always so much to explore!
